Carlos Falchi was a clothing and accessory designer from Minas Gerais, Brazil, who rose to popularity during the late 1970s and 80s in New York City. Using a plethora of fine leathers and animal skins, he quickly gained publicity in the fashion scene and paved innovation in the world of handbags. He was widely known for deconstructed purses, comparative to heavier-duty European style bags. He began his career hand-sewing leather-patchwork pieces for celebrities like Tina Turner, Mick Jagger, and Cher. He eventually designed bags for Madonna, Sharon Stone, the cast of Sex and the City, and more.
