Derby's piece of advice for young women starting their investment portfolio: Start soon and start small. Even it's $5 a day that you save, over time it adds up. You can really achieve big dreams by saving a little every paycheck or every month. Find an investment platform that works for you and use it. I used Robinhood when I was in college. Allow it to help you allocate your funds in investments you like. Speak to a financial advisor at your bank. They are there to help you and guide you in the right financial direction.
One of the most rewarding and satisfying aspects of being an independent fashion retailer is that we get to shine the spotlight on local artists and designers we love. Finding these special, creative individuals is like finding a really sparkly needle in the local haystack. Johannah Masters is no exception. Her playful, whimsical jewelry line, beloved by women of all ages, is the perfect match for our cup of happiness type of shop. Click to read ten questions with the designer.
My wild adventures in sourcing and selling Vintage throughout the years have led to encounters with some of the world's most iconic, creative people. Prior to starting Mint, I used to work for an infamous vintage store in Miami (we shall not name names, but if you can guess, kudos to you!). The store was sprawling and mysterious, like a dense jungle, only instead of animals and plants, this feral shopping haven had 10,000 square feet of the world's finest vintage and designer pieces. Working there was like nothing I'd ever experienced in retail before. Everyday brought something new and exciting, be it a person or a one of a vintage piece you would only find there. And this day on  Dec 5, 2009 as no exception.
